For 2025’s Milano Design Week, Ernestomeda reveals a brand new take on its timeless kitchen model, Sign

Ernestomeda debuts a bold new concept of its iconic Sign model at the 2025 Milano Design Week, an averment of the brand’s earnest efforts in furthering contemporary kitchen design

From its inception, Sign was designed to transform the kitchen into a welcoming, social hub. It was meant as a point of conjunction for cooking, dining and living. Celebrated for its versatility, Sign is available in a wealth of materials, finishes and layout options, making it one of Ernestomeda’s most adaptable and urbane pieces. For the 2025 Milano Design Week, architect and art director Giuseppe Bavuso has evolved the kitchen system into Sign Round: a fresh interpretation that expands the possibilities of the modern kitchen.

The new Sign Round introduces a softer, more fluid aesthetic, replacing the sharp angles with classic curves that maintain the kitchen model’s full functionality while creating a sense of harmony. Drawing inspiration from the flowing forms of the ’70s, the design strikes a great balance between retro charm and mod vogue, highlighted by features like the Snack Plane table, which extends like a wing from the island for an airy and energetic look.

Key innovations by Bavuso include the rounded Able worktop, available in materials such as natural stone composites for sleek surfaces, and the Screen partition in curved glass, designed to subtly define space. It is also worthy of note to know: the Sign Round kitchen model has been crafted with sustainability in mind with the use of advanced techniques and recyclable materials.

At the heart of Ernestomeda’s identity is its attention to detail, so it comes as no surprise that particular elements like the specially crafted door for the island’s rounded base features coordinated curved profiles just to maintain visual unity. Other highlight features are the ergonomically designed Shape inset handle and the distinctive curved end units with Lucem-finished partitions, which add a sense of lightness while preserving elegance and utility.

Augmenting the island’s visual flow, a spacious and practical arrangement at the back of the system combines open shelving with storage units. The open elements create a featherweight visual impression while introducing endless opportunities for practical use and personalised design.

With refined textures and quiet contrasts, Sign Round’s character shines through its Indoor cupboard system, which incorporates Daylight open units to strike a congenial balance between solid fronts and recessed spaces. Tall units are interspersed with illuminated open sections in Hi-Melamine, a wood-effect material that enhances the kitchen’s inviting atmosphere and emphasises its role as the essence of a home.

To create an impeccable ambiance, the Sign Round’s backlighting interface that is even offered in rounded silhouettes adds depth and rhythm to the spaces it graces. Featuring integrated elements and customisable options like the Trace Round vertical handles or Orbit bridge handles crafted from tubular aluminum, the Sign Round system is a state-of-the-art touch to the modern kitchen.
