Gracefully nestled on a Bel Air hilltop, with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and Los Angeles basin sits the RO54. Designed by the team at Arshia Architects, this visionary structure harmoniously melds a dynamic building with the natural topography predating the area’s development. In a neighbourhood evolving from its post-war roots, where size sometimes overshadows quality, RO54 pioneers a proportional model while adhering to stringent regulations.

Embracing spatial relationships, the design maximises functionality through split-levels that follow the hill’s contours, forming cohesive, multi-purpose spaces. The aesthetic draws inspiration from streamlined automotive design, seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technology. Interiors prioritise utilitarian materials, celebrating space over excess, all within an environmentally conscious framework.

A thoughtfully designed courtyard not only illuminates lower bedrooms but also doubles as a rainwater filtration system, exemplifying the project’s commitment to sustainability. Surpassing the rigorous California green building standards, it encompasses low-flow plumbing, drought-tolerant landscaping, photovoltaic integration and high-efficiency building systems to truly echo a call towards sustainable development.

Indoor materials echo nature’s palette, adhering to Low VOC standards. Mica plaster, hardwood and natural stone compose a minimalistic yet impactful selection, reflecting the project’s ethos of responsible design, prioritising durability and low-impact maintenance.
