Rupert Ooi’s designing journey happened even though he was a science student, since he was deeply drawn to the arts and with a penchant for creative design. He plays by his greatest strength – as a great listener and visualiser – when designing spaces for his clients. And that gives him an added advantage, yet still being able to stay true to his innate self.

All of Rupert’s designs are in line with the philosophy of his idol, Oki Sato, where design should evoke emotions like nostalgia, humour, surprise, and irony; complementing the entire design. Moving forward, he dreams to create a Zen Resort by the beach because then he would be able to unleash his creativity in using Modern Contemporary style. He hopes he’ll be able to inspire younger interior designers in the near future.
