An energetic series of events, forums and activities await at 2024 REKA Design Week (RDW), happening this October 28 to November 3

Themed ‘Design Senses’, this year’s RDW will be a week-long revelry in art and design, specifically curated to happen simultaneously throughout various locations in Klang Valley to invoke a feel of collective movement across the city. Join the 2024 programme and explore of the processes and practices in design that help craft multisensory experiences.

Alongside the annual REKA Conference, expect RiX forums, installation showcases and even a stamp-collection guide that leads a creative adventure to lifestyle venues, galleries and more all over KL. Two major events mark the annual REKA Design Week series, which are the REKA Conference and the REKA Interior Exhibition (RiX).

REKA Conference 2024

Being MIID’s most anticipated annual event, the REKA Conference series is a yearly affair of professional talks featuring influential names within the industry. REKA Conference 2024 brings five international speakers, Francesca Heathcote Sapey, Jamy Yang, Antoine Meinnel, Ambrish Arora and Thanart Chanyu, to share their unique approach around this year’s theme of ‘ELEMENTAL’ — or going back to the roots and core values of design.

Set to take place on Friday November 1 at Plenary Theatre, KL Convention Centre, the REKA Conference also offers its attendees to come away with 8 LAM CPD points to their name. Plus, East Malaysian members are able to receive a 20% discount off their ticket price as a token of appreciation for their travelling in for the Conference.

REKA Interior Exhibition (RiX) 2024

The REKA Interior Exhibition (RiX) is a highlight event showcasing the finest collections and products from countless exhibitors within Malaysia’s interior design industry. RiX recreates the experience of a lively marketplace for design professionals to engage with brands while providing a range of captivating activities like discussions and workshops tailored around gaining all the latest industry insight.

Under the direction of Chief Curator Cayenne Lim, RiX will delve into the art of expertly combining of lines, shapes, colors, textures and forms to appeal to the five senses. On top of designing the hall and exhibition booths, this year’s main design installation — featured in the RiX Townhall space — will be curated by Effendy Madzri, Yong Wei, Alan Fong, Leong Wei Theng and Esmonde Yap.

A brand new addition to the REKA Design Week programme is the stamp-collect activity with a diverse array of participating outlets around KL & Petaling Jaya.
