CIFF Guangzhou 2027 Looks Ahead With 30 Years of Furniture Design and Innovation

Under the theme “Power the Next”, the 59th CIFF Guangzhou will mark three decades of evolution with a renewed focus on design, technology, sustainability and global connections.

Thirty years can change an industry. For CIFF Guangzhou, they have also meant growing alongside it.

Returning to Guangzhou Pazhou from 18 to 21 March and 28 to 31 March 2027, the 59th China International Furniture Fair will mark its 30th anniversary under the theme “Power the Next”. Spanning 850,000 sqm across two phases, the fair will bring together the wider furniture industry, from contemporary living and workplace design to outdoor furniture, home textiles, materials and manufacturing technology.

The upcoming edition follows a strong showing in 2026. The 57th CIFF Guangzhou welcomed 353,106 professional visitors from 185 countries and regions, including a record 64,291 overseas attendees, representing a 13.2 per cent increase year on year. More than 5,100 brands from 36 countries and regions also took part.

For 2027, the focus moves from scale to what comes next. Intelligence and sustainability will run through the fair, alongside new approaches to contemporary living, advanced manufacturing and material innovation.

Design Responds to New Ways of Living

The first phase, from 18 to 21 March, will centre on Home Furniture, Homedecor & Hometextile, and Outdoor Leisure.

Within Home Furniture, the exhibition will bring together high-end design, whole-house customisation, upholstery, living and dining furniture, with original design remaining a key focus. A new Designer Sourcing Zone will also connect brands, designers, manufacturers and buyers more directly.

Beyond furniture itself, the programme reflects how domestic life continues to evolve. Smart furniture, healthy and elderly-friendly living, pet living and new retail will all feature alongside the broader home furnishings offer. Meanwhile, Homedecor & Hometextile will explore interior decoration and textile solutions, while Outdoor Leisure will look at the changing relationship between the home and outdoor spaces.

The Workplace Is Changing Too

The second phase, running from 28 to 31 March, shifts the conversation towards Office & Commercial Space and CIFM/interzum guangzhou.

Here, design meets changing patterns of work and public life, with attention given to wellbeing, flexibility, smart technologies and sustainability. Office solutions and seating will sit alongside dedicated areas such as the E-sports Seating Zone, while expanded offerings for education and hospitality will reflect the growing demand for spaces that can accommodate different ways of working, learning and gathering.

Where Design Meets Manufacturing

For CIFF Guangzhou, the story of furniture does not end with the finished product.

Running alongside the second phase, CIFM/interzum guangzhou will bring together furniture machinery, hardware and materials, highlighting the technologies behind the industry’s next stage. Automation, flexible production, smart home hardware and new materials will demonstrate how manufacturing is becoming more responsive, from greater customisation and efficiency to more sustainable production models.

This connection between design and manufacturing is central to CIFF Guangzhou’s wider positioning around design trends, global trade and the complete supply chain. The result is a fair that moves between what people want to live with, how those products are made and how they reach markets around the world.

A Fair With a Global Outloook

Internationalisation will remain another important part of the 2027 edition.

Following its record overseas attendance in 2026, CIFF Guangzhou plans to strengthen connections between international buyers, designers, professional communities, industry associations and media through sourcing, matchmaking and networking opportunities. Its online and offline initiatives will also continue beyond the physical exhibition, extending the fair’s role throughout the year.

This forms part of CIFF Guangzhou’s “8+365” service model, which combines the eight exhibition days with year-round sourcing, matchmaking, industry insights and cross-border collaboration.

Powering What Comes Next

After three decades, CIFF Guangzhou is using its 30th anniversary as a point of departure rather than simply a milestone.

“Power the Next” brings together the themes likely to define the coming chapter of furniture and interiors: smarter technologies, new materials, more sustainable production, changing lifestyles and an increasingly connected global market.

In that sense, the 59th CIFF Guangzhou is less about looking back at 30 years than asking what the next 30 might bring.
