It all started in the idyllic island of Langkawi, North of Peninsula Malaysia. Owned and managed by power couple, Oli Qalid and Tanja Bindemann, Red Tomato in Langkawi commenced operations as a small café and has since grown into a gastro bar that’s frequented by local and foreign tourists alike. Known for its cosy ambience, intriguing handmade décor and heart-warming food, Red Tomato has become a home away from home for travellers who visited the picturesque Malaysian island.

After 17 years, the couple has taken another huge step with their business by bringing the gastro bar into the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Collaborating with their long-time friend and business partner, B.A. Mohd Mazlan Hilton, Red Tomato KL captures the same inviting ambience of its Langkawi outlet along with a touch of urban sophistication through refined decorative elements executed by FINEDEC Sdn Bhd.

Apart from being a restauranteur, Abang Oli is also a talented artisan who decorated the Kuala Lumpur outlet with handcrafted masterpieces such as the sun motif on the brick wall of its bar counter, LED light-embedded cement countertop as well as decorative pieces that accompany its lighting fixtures. In terms of space planning, the gastro bar comes equipped with a main seating area, a bar counter, a performance stage, an open kitchen, a group seating area, an outdoor bar & grill area, as well as an alfresco dining area at the back. As a whole, Red Tomato KL’s restaurant design can be summed up with the following adjectives: clean, raw, rustic, thoughtful, artistic and minimalistic.

Managed entirely by B.A. Mohd Mazlan Hilton, Red Tomato KL aims to provide an enjoyable dining experience with a menu that features good food (a mixture of European cuisine) that’s prepared from the heart. Among its specialties are the Red Burger, Greek Salad, Mexicana Pasta, Egg Benedict, Shrimp in Garlic & Chilli, Chilli Mussels, German Pizza, Barbecue Roasted Chicken, Belgian Waffle and Red Beer. Between its comforting food and welcoming ambience, the gastro bar is set to become a popular hangout spot for the city folks. Red Tomato KL also caters for functions and events.
