In 1963, Sergio Gandini became managing director of the firm and would prove to be a crucial personality in FLOS’ history. It took no more than a few years for FLOS to position themselves as the most innovative and revolutionary Italian lighting brand and after numerous products became part of the Italian exhibition at Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1972, FLOS became internationally renowned.

Echoing the silhouette of a duck, the Tahiti table lamp by Ettore Sottsass comes with a bacterio-patterned laminate base which supports an eclectic silhouette involving a round pink head that pivots to direct light from the red beak in any desired direction.

Lenti presents its new collections within what will become their unconventional Milanese flagship store – a melting pot of architecture, art, hospitality, design and food – with the official inauguration set for the end of the year. It is housed in a former industrial complex that spans over 4,000 square metres in the vibrant Maciachini district, with internal gardens at the heart of the project to not only exhibit outdoor pieces in organic fashion but also act as a source of inspiration and well-being for the brand.

Strap Side Tables

Made with an aluminium base and top in Esmal copper, Victor Carrasco’s Strap side tables are enhanced this year with new shades and patterns, inspired by the forms and colours of nature herself. A modern interpretation of the ancient Grand Feu enamelling technique which imparts precious nuances and a deep chiaroscuro effect is represented here.

Shibusa Lounge Chair

The structure of the simple but striking Shibusa indoor lounge chair by Francesco Rota in bamboo heartwood supports a seating area in igusa, a natural material capable of purifying the air, regulating humidity, reducing unpleasant odours and more. Aesthetically, it features a delicate multicoloured pattern for a more contemporary look.

Wave Chaise Lounge & Baia Lounge Chair

With an undulating form reminiscent of the ocean, the Wave chaise lounge has a new handweave design inspired by the complex knots of Japanese tradition. The same handweaving technique also presents itself in the stackable Baia lounge chair, using Twitape, a variation of the Twiggy high tech yarn, which is waterproof, resistant against dirt, abrasion and UV rays, and comes in a melange of bright colours to achieve this.

Designed by Marc Sadler, the simple yet functional SEI kitchen expands with the introduction of 25 colours, ranging from powder pink to baby blue, and 4 finishes – matt embossed lacquer, anodized lacquer, sandblasted chestnut wood and natural quartzite Palladium Arte matt finish – as well as an update of the existing Fenix finishes. New modules and accessory elements, such as new heights of wall units and tall units and the brand-new sliding roto snack top, are available too.

Antis/Lain Kitchen

Two existing kitchens are fused into the new Antis/Lain composition at the hands of architect Roberto Gobbo. The structure, in TSS (Thermo Structured Surface) flint finish, makes it particularly resistant and compact, giving it a powerfully statuesque appearance. Referencing the Orient, the brown Antis front doors made of caneté wood come with a slight three-dimensional finish. The Lain columns are made of sand-coloured, scratch-resistant TSS Turner while the kitchen tops and thick shelves use MDI (Minerals Design Innovation) ceramic by Inalco in a striking bush-hammered Iseo Gris finish.

Freespace Shelving System

Covering two walls of the full-height space and arranged in an abstract manner is the Freespace modular shelving system, perfect for entrances and connecting zones. It thoughtfully comes with Plana push and pull doors, an open corner module, a niche with glass shelves and another niche with bench seating for a totally comprehensive solution. Steeped in blue with a walnut finish, it aptly references the world of Bauhaus and the research on colour carried out during that historical moment.
