There are only 60 pieces of this Dezza Limited Edition armchair

Celebrating the 60th anniversary of its iconic armchair, Poltrona Frau introduces an exclusive design that is limited to only 60 pieces around the world

Created by Gio Ponti for Poltrona Frau in 1965, the Dezza armchair has grown to become one of the brand’s most defining pieces. Featuring a never-before-seen design by the master architect, the Dezza Limited Edition is made from the brand’s unique Pelle Frau® ColorSphere Impact Less leather that strengthens the brand’s pledge to sustainable practices.

Designed by one of the most prominent architects and designers to come out of Italy, the Dezza armchair is known to be way ahead of its time, with a modernist build using squared lines that converge to an overall curved silhouette as a statement of restful dynamism. A clear display of its acclaim, the seat archetype has been in production since its debut in the ’60s, during which Poltrona Frau was headed for a new brand direction.

The Dezza Limited Edition’s white and blue tonal scheme was heavily inspired by Gio Ponti’s recognisable majolica floors at Hotel Parco dei Principi in Sorrento, Italy. The upholstery, however, proves to be the seat’s main highlight, featuring a facsimile of Gio Ponti’s unpublished artwork of stylised hands. Among the 26 drawings are compositions titled ‘the fortune-teller’s hand’ and ‘the wounded hand’, with each marked work bringing its own character while educing a wider message of “intelligence of the hands”. Symbolising the human ability to create, the limited edition design is made to reflect Poltrona Frau’s core value: artisan craftmanship.

A number of the Dezza 60th Anniversary Limited Edition is now available for online purchase through Poltrona Frau’s digital stores in select European markets, while the remaining pieces can be procured at select Poltrona Frau locations worldwide starting April 1, 2025. Complete with a signed certificate of authenticity, each piece is uniquely numbered with a metal plaque, making it a fine collectible for sophisticated palettes.
